The Arunodhaya Foundation is a registered charity in Sri Lanka dedicated to caring for children with mental and physical disabilities. The foundation operates two homes—one for 37 girls in Waikkala and another for 20 boys in Bangadeniya. Both rely entirely on the generosity of donors, religious institutions and well-wishers to keep running.
The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns hit these homes hard, leaving them struggling to meet basic needs during extremely difficult economic conditions.
The Maris Stella College OBA UK stepped in to help, funding the purchase of a new generator, a deep-freezer and an oven for the foundation. Members also provided dry food parcels for both homes to help ease the burden on caregivers and ensure the children remained well looked after.
This project reflects the OBA’s commitment to supporting those who need it most, especially the most vulnerable members of our society.
